i have a LCD SONY monitor on a HP tower and when I turn computer on the monitor comes on but I notice monitor getting brighter then goes totally dark even though I can still see image in background. Then when I turn monitor on & off I'll come back on but only for a couple of seconds then goes dark again. Then some times it works o.k. Can any one help me with this problem?

It sounds like the inverter on your LCD Sony monitor has failed. Depending on how good you are with repairs you can try to find the proper inverter for your LCD and do the repair yourself, but it's probably better to just buy a new monitor.
