A friend of mine has suggested numerous times now that I should go out and purchase an external hard drive for all my documents and photos so that I do not overload my computer. Is that the best thing to do?

Backing up your files to an external hard drive is a great idea for two reasons:
- Having a backup of your files in case your hard drive fails
- Keeps your computer hard drive from getting full, which slows down your computer considerably.
