You can't go back to factory settings without re-formating your drive. Depending on what type of computer you have you might have a recovery partition on your hard drive. If you do have a recovery partition then you can revert your operating system back to a time when you first bought the computer.

Otherwise, just uninstall the problem programs and create a new user account. That will help you have a cleaner profile.

I would recommend just re-installing the OS, as it will be the best solution in the long term.

I'm comtemplating this because my PC has become cluttered with lots of small programs and drivers that I don't need anymore. What is the easiest way to go back to factory settings without reformatting:

AMD Athlon Dual Core 235e Processor (2.70 GHz)

Do you have Windows Photo Gallery installed on your computer?

Windows Photo Gallery sometimes creates duplicates of your images, so you can uninstall Windows Photo Gallery and hopefully your problem will be fixed.

If not let me know.

Hi,
I have sony vaio vpccw 1BGN laptop with windows 7 OS. The problem i am facing is that whenever i save any pictures or videos in my laptop they automatically create a shadow file with extension .jpg.files. For example i have saved a picture named JOHN, now next time i want to open that picture there is another copy of the picture is made nearby the picture in its own folder with name JOHN.jpg.files
The original picture opens as usual with no problem. But the duplicate copy of the picture is created in a folder and opens in a very small size than actual size. This problem i am facing for a very long time. I have to delete the duplicate folder everytime but it is automatically created everytime i visit the pictures folder.

Thanks

You can start Windows 7 in safe mode and then uninstall the video driver and then re-install it. To get into safe mode press the F8 key before the Windows 7 logo appears. Give it a try.

It depends on the games. Some games might run under the Windows XP compatibility mode in Windows 7, but chances are high that your games won't work perfectly if they do work. Give it a try and see what happens.

Adam on "Product Key Not Accepted"

The main reason a product key will not be valid is:

- You mistyped the Windows 7 product key

- Your product key doesn't match the version of Windows 7 on your computer

- You used an upgrade key but you performed a clean installation of Windows 7. In order to use the upgrade key you have to upgrade from a previous version of Windows (XP or Vista) that was installed on your system.

Those are the main reasons for your problem.

This has been a problem of many people and I'm one of them. I have bought a brand new Windows 7 OS complete with box. After entering the product key on installation I receive the message "The product key is not valid. Please retype the product key". I already emailed Microsoft but I'm still waiting for my product key. Any suggestions on what I should do would be greatly appreciated.

I have a computer I am thinking about putting 7 on for a children's computer. It is not super fast but it has always been reliable. Would it be better to just purchase a computer with this installed or is it possible to reuse this old machine?

It could be the printer but more then likely you have to update the printer drivers with a compatible Windows 7 version. Check out the HP website for any updated Windows 7 drivers for your printer and then download and install them.
