In this tutorial I will show you how install an inverter in the LCD screen of a laptop. So what is an inverter? It’s what power the backlight of the LCD screen so you can see your screen and allow you to adjust the brightness of your LCD. A laptop inverter failing is a common problem and a fairly easy fix with the right knowledge and tools. A little word of caution for people is just because your LCD screen is really dim it doesn’t mean that you inverter is always the problem. Sometime the backlight on the LCD itself has failed or the screen connector on the motherboard has fail. If it is the inverter then let’s get started and fix your screen.

Steps:

1. For this repair you will need a pointy metal tool and a screw driver.

2. Unplug the power supply from the laptop and remove the battery before starting this inverter repair.

3. Now locate the screw covers on your screen and remove them to expose the screws.

4. Remove all the necessary screws from your screen and then use your pointy tool to find a spot to gently pry open the screen cover. Some screen covers are cheap plastic so be very careful when doing this step.

5. Once you’ve unsnapped the cover from the case remove the cover and find the inverter which is located at the bottom of the LCD screen.

6. Most inverters have a screw holding them in place so you will have to remove the screw and then will have access to the inverter.

7. Next step is to unplug the inverter from the both the motherboard and LCD. When you unplug both connectors be careful as the wires are pretty delicate.

8. Find your new inverter and then plug it into your laptop. Once it’s plugged it screw the inverter into the case.

9. Replace the screen cover and screw it back into place. Now put the screw covers into the holes and put your battery back in the laptop. Plug in your laptop and watch as your screen has come back to life. It’s that easy.

Tips:

- Inverters must be grounded so don’t forget to screw your inverter to the case.

In this tutorial I will show you how to install a laptop keyboard onto a laptop. Laptop keyboards are fairly simple devices and they rarely stop functioning on their own. There are many different types of laptop keyboards in the market and as a result people have to do their research when finding a replacement. Even if the keys look the same the connector on the back might be different and won’t fit into the slot. A lot of people like to replace their whole keyboard even if they only have one or two keys missing because sometimes it’s easier to replace the whole keyboard then just a few keys. The cost of laptop keyboards is fairly cheap so a lot people will replace their keyboard before they sell their laptop just to make it look nicer. I’ll now show you how to install a laptop keyboard.

<!--
google_ad_client = "pub-1753917005750420";

<script type="text/javascript"

Steps:

1. Flip your laptop upside down and find the screws that are connected to your keyboard These screws are usually marked by a keyboard symbol so they’re easy to find. If you don’t see any keyboard symbols then there aren’t any screws from the bottom of the laptop. The screws will be under the top panel above your keyboard.

2. On some models you will have to also unscrew the screws holding the top panel because you will have to remove the top panel first before you remove the keyboard.

3. Now place the laptop right side up and open your laptop lid. Find a little notch or hole and use a pointy metal tool to gently lift the top panel above your keyboard.

4. Once remove you should be able to see if you laptop keyboard has any screws holding it down. If there are any screws then remove them now.

5. To remove the keyboard gently slide the keyboard towards the screen and lift up until the keyboard comes free from the case. Be careful not to pull too hard as this could rip the keyboard ribbon out of the connector and damage it.

6. When the laptop keyboard is freed from the case then find the ribbon connector and very gently use your pointy tool to press down on both side of the connector until the ribbon comes out from the slot.

7. When you have completely removed the keyboard place it aside and grab your new keyboard and insert the ribbon cable into the slot and secure it by pushing up on the connector tabs.

8. Place your keyboard back into position and make sure that all the side properly placed under the case.

9. If there were screws then screw them back into the holes and then replace the top panel of the laptop.

10. Make sure all the remaining screws are screwed back in and then start your laptop. Now your done.

Tips:

- Be very gently with the laptop keyboard ribbon as it is a flimsy piece of plastic that can bend or bread easily.

In this tutorial I will show you how to install a laptop DVD, or optical drive, into a laptop. Withe popularity of 17 inch laptops many people are watching their favorite movie on their laptops. Also, most software these days are now shipped on DVD’s so having a DVD player is essential in today’s computer world. The reliability of laptop DVD’s are not as good as their desktop versions but if treated right they can last a long time. Replacing a laptop DVD is usually a fairly straight forward process unless the laptop release screw is located under the keyboard and then the installation process get considerably more complicated. Let’s start the tutorial.

Steps:

1. Place your laptop upside down on a table with a soft cloth to protect the laptop lid from getting scratch.

2. Unscrew the DVD release screw from your laptop which is usually located a few inches from the each of the DVD drive. Some laptops have the release screw located under the keyboard which makes the install more difficult.

3. Once you unscrewed the release screw then grab a medium sized paper clip and insert it into the eject hole the laptop DVD drive. When you press the paper clip into the hole the pull the paper clip out and the drive will pop open.

4. Now grab the frame of the drive and pull it out of the laptop. Sometimes you have to wiggle the drive a little bit to release it.

5. Pick up your new laptop DVD drive and insert it into the laptop all the way and screw the release screw back into the hole.

6. Flip the laptop over and boot it up. Let your operating system recognize and load the driver of your new DVD drive before using it for the first time.

Tips:

- When installing a new DVD drive into a laptop you have to remove the rear bracket from the old drive and screw it into the new drive in order for the release screw to line up.

In this tutorial I will teach you how to install a laptop hard drive into a laptop. With laptops becoming more and more popular a lot of people are running into problems with their hard drives failing. Some people just want to upgrade their hard drive to a larger one. Whatever the reason most laptop owners will have to swap out their drive at some point in their lives. Laptop hard drives are more reliable then their bigger brother drives for desktops but they still require care when handling. Also, as speed of drives continue to increase installing a laptop drive will become more common as manufacturers sacrifice speed for reliability. Without further discussion let’s get starting with this tutorial.

<!--
google_ad_client = "pub-1753917005750420";

Steps:

1. Put a piece of foam or towel on a table and then place your laptop on the towel upside down. The foam or other material is so you don’t scratch the surface of the laptop.

2. Now locate the hard drive compartment on your laptop. The hard drive cover is usually located near the bottom of the laptop or on the side. Some laptops have a hard drive symbol on the cover to help identify the right spot.

3. Once you’ve located the laptop hard drive grab a screwdriver with the proper bit and unscrew the cover. After unscrewing the screws then lift the cover off.

4. Now you’ll be able to see the hard drive. Depending on the manufacturer of the laptop you will need to either use the tab and lift the drive straight out or you will need to slide the drive out and then lift.

5. After taking the hard drive out you will notice that most laptop drives have enclosure or cases so you will have to remove the enclosure from your drive.

6. Now grab the new hard drive and attach the case to the new drive. Be careful not to tighten the screws too much as they can snap off with too much torque applied.

7. Insert the disk drive into the laptop and slide it into the connector.

8. Now replace the cover and screw it closed. Start your laptop and your done.

Tips:

- Do not put your hard drive near any magnets as this can damage the laptop drives

- Some laptop screws have unique designs so make sure you have the right screw bit before starting the installation.

- Do not squeeze the laptop drive too hard as it could damage it. If you have to put pressure then do so by holding the sides of the drive.

In this tutorial I will show you how to install and upgrade the Random Access Memory (RAM) into a laptop. Upgrading the RAM in your laptop is a quick and easy way to improve the overall performance of your laptop. The benefit of increasing your laptop memory is you will be able to open multiple programs at the same time without experiencing a slow down in your system. I always recommend that people install the maximum amount of RAM in their laptops because the price of laptop memory is so cheap right now.
Steps:

1. Find out what size and speed of laptop RAM your laptop can take. To find out you can visit the Crucial website and have your system scanned for the appropriate memory.

2. After you’ve found the right memory for your laptop then unplugged the power supply from your laptop and place the laptop on a soft blanket or towel on a table.

3. Once your laptop is upside down then remove the battery from the laptop.

4. Next, you’ll need to find the right panel to unscrew. Usually your see a little memory symbol next to or on the panel you need to remove.

5. Once you’ve found the panel then unscrew the panel and find the sticks of RAM in your system. Then press the two brackets holding the memory outwards and then release them. The memory modules should pop out. If they don’t then use some light pressure to lift the modules out. Repeat this step for the other stick of RAM.

6. Now that the memory sticks are out you can place your new laptop memory into the slots at a 45 degree angle and then gently slid them into the slot and press down until you hear the brackets click. Repeat this step for the other stick of RAM.

7. After installing the RAM then place the panel back on the laptop and screw it in. Then insert the battery back into the laptop and plug the power supply in.

8. Turn on your laptop and your should be back in business. You might see a warning message from your BIOS saying that your memory configuration has changed. If you see that warning then press F1 and your laptop will continue to boot.

Tips:

- All laptop hardware, especially memory, is sensitive to static electricity so please make sure your ground yourself by touching a metal appliance or the screw in your electrical socket.

- If you are using Windows 32-bit version then your operating system will use a maximum of 3.2GB of RAM. If your using Windows 64-bit version then you can use a lot more RAM.
